Proposing for the first time must have been jinxed with bad timing as Candy, Patrick's then girlfriend, started to get insect bites after they spent the evening at an outdoor restaurant. Patrick decided to postpone the proposal until the following week.

The second attempt was so much sweeter--quite literally. Patrick brought Candy to the Tivoli at Mandarin Oriental, where he enclosed the ring in the menu. Candy wasn't in the mood for sweets that night, but after much cajoling, she finally opened the menu and spotted the engagement ring.

A candy-themed wedding was an almost automatic choice for the couple. They incorporated a lot of candy treats in the décor and food--apt for a sweet beginning.

The designer used different styles of beading in to jazz up the gown's train. The fabric was from the wedding gown of the bride's mother, who got married in 1965.
