Featured Wedding: Mariane & Eugine

Mariane and Eugine were in a long-distance relationship from the start. When they started dating in 2005, Mariane was already working as a flight attendant based in Seoul, South Korea. Every month, Mariane would fly back to Manila from Seoul to spend the eight days she had off work with friends and family in the Philippines. This way, she and Eugine kept their relationship going strong for four years before Eugine proposed.

A few days before Valentine's Day, Mariane's plane landed in Manila from Seoul. When Mariane came out of NAIA's arrival area, she was greeted by a brass quintet playing Christopher Cross' "Swept Away", a group of friends carrying a tarpaulin that said "Will You Marry Me?", and Eugine, holding out a bouquet of yellow roses and calla lilies. Eugine popped the question and Mariane said yes, amidst applause from their friends and onlookers in the terminal. Eugine's proposal made quite an impression on everyone at the airport, so much so that the couple's special moment was featured on the evening news and in the newspapers the next day.

Mariane and Eugine tied the knot in 2010 with a beach-themed wedding at the Shrine of Jesus in Pasay. A paparazzi wall at the reception was dedicated to displaying the newspaper articles about that fateful day which marked the beginning of their new life together.
