While brides nowadays are spoilt for choice in terms of gown designs, do remember that part of looking great in your wedding gown is wearing a style that suits your body type. We've rounded up the wedding dress silhouettes that would complement your figure.

Hourglass 

Other than staying away from dresses with too much detailing, or those that make them top or bottom-heavy, hourglass brides can wear most wedding dress styles.

Inverted Triangle

With bigger bustlines, brides with inverted triangle shapes need to divert attention from their top half. Brides can opt for details on the skirt, like beading, or fuller skirt silhouettes to strike balance with a heavy top. A bridal gown with a drop waist will also give the bride a leaner appearance.

Brides in this shape should steer clear of wedding dresses with too-low or too-high necklines, as these would only draw more attention to a heavy top.

Pear

Brides with pear shapes should draw attention to the top half, so wedding gowns with detailed necklines or beaded bodices would be great options. A wedding dress with an empire waist is also a good choice because it de-emphasizes the hips. A gown with an A-line skirt would also work well.

Unforgiving bridal gown styles include those that emphasize the bottom even more through heavy detailing, bustles, or bouffant skirts. Pear-shaped brides should stay away from mermaid-style skirts, too.

Rectangle

Brides with rectangle shapes need to create an illusion of curves. A wedding dress with an empire waist softens the otherwise straight lines of the body, plus it gives the bride delineation between the bustline and the waistline. Wearing a ball gown is also a good way to emphasize the bottom half.

Brides with this figure should stay away from vertical details on the wedding dress, as these only make the figure more boyish.
